10 Alternatives to Canada Goose Jackets

winter jackets? there are plenty of alternatives to Canada Goose

Canada Goose jackets are super popular and high in quality. However, not everyone might want to invest in a Canada Goose jacket. There are several reasons why some might prefer to avoid them.

Firstly, Canada Goose jackets are pretty expensive compared to pretty much all the alternatives on the market.

Secondly, people might be concerned about the issues around animal welfare. With Canada Goose sourcing both fur and down for their jackets, they are definitely not the ethical choice.

And, third: When it comes to a warm winter jacket, you might be looking for something genuinely more practical or stylish. For example if you enjoy snow sports or work outdoors, a Canada Goose jacket is most likely not going to be a wise choice.

No need to worry though, as there are plenty of Canada Goose alternatives that might even work better for you. And they won’t go as hard on your wallet either.

1. North Face

North Face jackets are high quality and are really durable and stylish. Perhaps more crucially, they are made to last several winters. They also come in tons of colours and styles, so you can pick and choose something that will suit both your body and your style.

You can find muted colours, simple blacks but if you would prefer to be in more bold colours, then you will still find plenty of options.

Not only this, but their priciest jackets are still only 1/10th as expensive as the average Canada Goose jacket. There are still plenty of cheaper options though, so you don’t even need to go that high in price.

If you’re looking for a Canada Goose jacket alternative, chances are that North Face will be on your list.

Check out the North Face store.

north face jackets are a great alternative to canada goose

2. Save the Duck

If you would prefer a brand that takes pride in their work and also makes an effort to do as much as for the environment as possible, then Save the Duck is your best bet. They have a lot of collections, each dedicated to a specific cause.

But since we are still talking about premium items, you can easily know that their jackets are still very much up to par.

For example, their Pro-Tech collection is made to last through the roughest of conditions and to provide as much warmth as humanly possible. These are their priciest jackets, but if you are looking to take difficult hikes, go skiing or snowboarding, then these will surely do you good for at least the next few years.

As they’re also animal friendly, they make a great ethical alternative to Canada Goose Jackets.

3. Patagonia

Patagonia offers stylish pieces that will keep you looking stylish (and keep you warm) throughout the winter. Their jackets often come in more muted colours, however they are incredibly flattering on anyone, which can easily make them your new favourite statement item.

The brand also takes pride in the fact that their clothes are made to last. They were specifically designed to make winter sports easier, by allowing the customer more mobility and by keeping them warm with the least amount of fluff possible. If you enjoy winter hiking, or snowsports such as snowboarding or skiing then Patagonia will be a solid choice.

Patagonia are also one of the original eco-friendly brands, with a strong focus on sustainability. So if you’re looking for a Canada Goose alternative with strong green credentials, Patagonia might well be your go to option.

Search Patagonia for your ideal jacket.

4. Decathlon

Compared to Canada Goose, Decathlon might seem like a budget option. However, unfortunately many people immediately rush to luxury items if they want quality, even if there are way more affordable options that will still last you a long time. Decathlon is one of those options.

The brand offers a ton of stylish clothing options, especially when it comes to winter sports. There is everything you could need, whether you are at a beginner or an advanced level, which means that you really need to take a look here before you turn to premium and luxury brands.

You also don’t need to worry about the variety, Decathlon has plenty of bold and muted colours. The Wed’ze brand are the snowsports jackets that you will often see on the slopes during the winter, but they are also great as all-weather protection.

They might not have the most stylish jackets or the optimal fits, but they are comfortable, durable and technically effective in cold weather.

If you can look past some aesthetic issues and the fact that Decathlon doesn’t have the prestige that Canada Goose does, then they are still an amazing option.

You’ll find plenty of great Decathlon jackets for under €100, up to around €200.

You don't need an expensive winter jacket to stay warm

5. Burton

Burton is the brand made for snowboarders. If you like to keep active during the winter and you give your jackets a run for their money, then this is possibly the best brand you can go with.

Like Patagonia, Burton jackets have a strong sustainability angle. So if you’re after a cool jacket with eco and street-cred, check out Burton.

As they are jackets for snowboarders, they are made to last and keep you insulated for several winters to come. And of course they allow for a lot of mobility, so you won’t feel suffocated while trying to have fun. Burton jackets are also very stylish, so you can be the cool person who snowboards with ease while still looking amazing (even if you’ve never set foot on a snowboard in your life).

Despite being a premium snow sports brand, Burton jackets tend to be affordable, with prices running from under $100 all the way up to over $300 or more.

Browse the Burton store.

6. Nau

Not enough people have heard of this brand unfortunately, even though their items are at a premium quality and they are very fairly priced.

Nau offers a wide variety of jackets which are made to be fashion pieces. These will still keep you warm, however, their main goal is to keep you looking stylish and fresh. Their colours are often muted or just plain black, which means that they will go well with anything else you might want to wear. If you like streetwear, then you will also find some great pieces here.

7. Uniqlo

Another budget brand is Japanese clothing store Uniqlo. Although they’re often seen as ‘The Japanese GAP’, they also offer a great selection of warm, stylish and relatively hard wearing puffer jackets and parkas.

Granted they may not have the prestige of an expensive coat such as Canada Goose, but as an affordable alternative, they’re close to unbeatable.

They also feature down, which is one of the selling points of Canada Goose, but at a fraction of the price.

Browse the Uniqlo store.

8. Finisterre

If you don’t want to compromise on quality then check out British brand Finisterre. They offer premium clothing items, with a cool minimalist style, including a great range of winter coats and parkas.

And although they are not a budget option, they are a cheaper than Canada Goose, and still a stylish and hard wearing option.

Finisterre are designed with the British weather in mind, so their jackets are waterproof and windproof as standard. They are also pretty cool, with a minimalist aesthetic and a range of simple colours.

Browse the Finisterre store.

9. Picture Organic

One more snowsports brand for your consideration. Picture Organic are a French ski and snowboard brand, offering a range of excellent quality winter jackets. As well as being warm, and built for Alpine winters, they also come in a range of both cool colours and minimalist styling.

We like this brand for their eco credentials, they’re another brand who focus on using materials with minimal global impact. And of course they’re also very cool and stylish, and much less expensive than Canada Goose.

Take a look at Picture Organic.

10. Burberry

If you’re looking for a premium option, and if you really want to go designer, then Burberry is the way to go. Their prices are right up there with Canada Goose, but that is very much reflected in the quality and style.

Burberry offers designer jackets that come in a few colours, namely Honey, Coal Blue and Black. These will go with anything that you already own and they will give your outfit a newfound glow.

If you want luxury and a statement fashion piece, this is a great option.

In summary

There are plenty of great Canada Goose jacket alternatives, often with great styling, durability and warmth – but a fraction of the price.

We hope you find one of these great companies fits the bill!
